Noel Larbey, Winter Down Under

Noel Larbey here looking forward to the winter down under, nothing can be worse than the coldest winter recorded back in the UK since records began. Looking forward to not having to get up extra early to scrape the ice and frost off the car or having to run the engine till the inside temperature becomes bearable.

As much as I love a proper winter, I think a winter down under will be a welcome relief. Gone are the gloves and twenty layers of clothing just to keep warm.

Even better there will be no more scrapping ice off the windscreen first thing in the morning, letting the car heat up just to make the journey bearable

Noel Larbey, learning the culture

So after being here for a while I Noel larbey am starting to understand the sublte yet vastly differences in culture between here and the UK. Yet far from being an outsider looking in its far better to jump in and immerse yourself and become a true local.

Even just small things like the language or slang words sometimes make a conversation interesting, all part of the day to day challenge to adapt to the way of life.

It is also challenging driving around, things that I expected to be the same are slightly different which if your not careful can catch you out. I even refer to something as simple as a filter light on a traffic light

Noel Larbey, Curry experience

On the quest to find the perfect curry here in Sydney that compares favourably to the many that I have eaten back in the UK. I refuse to believe that Australia does not do curry. I Noel Larbey love to record all my curry experiences as they are so varied and different.

The mission will take in several restaurants and take aways to establish just which ones compare favourably and will become our regular fix for Indian food

So far we have visited two restaurants both offering quality Indian food and I can defintely agree that in both the food is good but only one so far is going into the shortlist. The service and the food were both excellent and I can honestly say this one is definitely worth a place in the shortlist and who nows maybve even a potential winner.

This is just the start of what we hope is going to be a very exciting adventure and hopefully will uncover some truly hidden gems.

Well after enjoying curry at several more places I am coming to the conclusion that the flavours here are just different, I will venture to declare not as spicy as they are back in UK. One noticeable thing here is that on a weekend bookings are rarely taken. Still to find one that does and our favourite soon stopped them shortly after we tried it which is a shame.

Have been advised of one that the cricketers use so that is going to be next on the list, just thinking about it is making me hungry
